Finally some really good news for Jean Claude Van Damme, post-Expendables 2. The actor is now in final negotiations to join the cast of the new remake, which also includes Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alain Moussi (X-Men: Days of Future Past).
He’ll play the older, wiser mentor this time as opposed to young and pissed off student. He’s replacing Thai action star and friend of ManlyMovie Tony Jaa. Tony dropped out on account of scheduling difficulties.
Kickboxer follows Kurt Sloan (Moussi), a talented martial artist who must learn the ancient kickboxing art of Muay Thai to avenge his brother’s death at the hands of Tong Po (Bautista). Here, Van Damme is Master Chow, who trains Sloan in the ways of the kickboxing. (Dennis Chan played Chow in the ’89 original.)
“We are so excited to have Kickboxer roll into production and to have JCVD in the role of Master Chow, passing the torch to Alain, to have him lead the franchise to a new generation,” said producer Ted Field of Radar Films.
Thanks To: Sergei. Oh and…
