Further to yesterday’s article about fanboys supporting actors deliberately trying to stay in the limelight in movies they know will suck, today comes some good and bad news. It seems that Beverly Hills Cop IV is still teetering around development hell despite what we were told was a possible May start date, and a firm 2016 release date.
I suppose the good news on the flip side is that Eddie Murphy is refusing to appear in a ‘shitty’ movie. That’s a good thing either way you cut it and is refreshing. I don’t want to see a shit BHC IV, do you?
Murphy told Rolling Stone today:
They still trying to get that script right. I’m not doing a Beverly Hills Cop unless they have a really incredible script. I’ve read a couple things that look like they can make some paper. But I’m not doing a shitty movie just to make some paper. The shit got to be right. I just finished doing a movie called Cook, with Bruce Beresford. He directed Driving Miss Daisy. It’s not a comedy, though. It’s a drama.
‘I’m not doing a shitty movie just to make some paper’ – Manly man, Eddie Murphy. Check out the full interview below, where Murphy talks everything from Cop IV to returning to stand up.
