Terminator: Genisys Trailer Lags Behind Competition

You might have noticed that the Super Bowl trailer for Terminator: Genisys was released to YouTube days before the actual event took place.  This didn’t happen with other upcoming block busters like Jurassic World or Furious 7.  If you ask me, it was poor trailer and these two things are not unconnected.

Now BoxOffice.com has ranked the Super Bowl trailers based on their performances across the online spectrum and Terminator: Genisys is ranked a lowly seventh.

7. Terminator: Genisys – Average Rating: 6.00

No two ways about it, this struggled badly. Facebook was its best performance where it ranked third, but it was dead last on Twitter and second last on Ad Meter. The Terminator franchise has spawned some big hits but also some relative duds and it would appear as though this is on its way to being classified with the latter.

If you click the link you’ll see by the way that Jurassic World is first with Furious 7 being tied with Ted 2 (R-rated and aimed at the male demographic) for second.  Releasing the trailer early may have been a factor for something like Twitter, but then despite coming days before Jurassic World on YouTube, gaining a pre-emptive release, Genisys has only mustered 1/6th the views of the former.

So does all this bode well?  No, not really.
