Furious 7 Preview Box Office Doubles Furious 6’s

Will Furious 7 break one billion at the box office?  That was my prediction last year.  Well if this year’s preview is anything to go by then the movie will easily break one billion.

Universal opened the movie in U.S. cinemas on Thursday night and the film’s first night previews took in a whopping $15.8 million – far more than the $6.5 million preview night haul of the previous entry “Fast and Furious 6”.  That’s more than double the taking for the last time.  So on paper it looks like it could break the billion dollar mark because the last movie drew just shy of $800 million, so even if things fall off, it’s still in with a chance.

I think though, that as far as these types of movies go, the purists out there will be keeping a closer eye on Mad Max: Fury Road and probably not the box office either.  A rated R George Miller Mad Max movie is a seriously huge deal, if you’re into vehicle-borne action movies.
