Tom Hardy Says He’s Set For Three More Mad Max Movies

We’re going to get our first Mad Max movie in thirty years in just six weeks, the movie, Mad Max: Fury Road, is released May 15th.  But it might not being the only one.

If Fury Road does well, it appears that we could see star Tom Hardy take over the franchise for a good while longer. In a new, lengthy profile at Esquire (via The Playlist), the actor reveals that he’s contracted for three more Mad Max movies in addition toFury Road, though he cautions that “everything’s based on figures and how things are perceived.” So, in other words, he’ll be starring in more Mad Max sequels if this first movie takes off at the box office.

The film has been confirmed as R-rated.  Four more R-rated Mad Max movies, anyone?  Even if we only get one though, Hardy calls this movie ‘unbelievable’…

“We were in the middle of nowhere,” says Hardy, “so far away from the studio system that [Warner Bros] can’t really see what’s going on, and just getting things to and from the set was a nightmare. We’d lose half a vehicle in sand and have to dig it out. It was just this unit in the middle of x-million square-kilometres of desert, and then this group of lunatics in leathers, like a really weird S&M party, or a Hell’s Angels convention. It was like Cirque du Soleil meets fucking Slipknot.”
