Things just looked up yet again for the Blade Runner sequel. Roger Deakins has come onboard as cinematographer. This can only be taken as a good thing, Deakins is possibly the best out there at the minute and a movie like this needs a heavyweight as far as such aesthetics go.
Hi work includes Skyfall, No Country for Old Men, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Unbroken, A Beautiful Mind and Jarhead. He will re-team with the movie’s director Denis Villeneuve following their previous collaborations on both Prisoners and the upcoming Sicario. The Kuwaiti oil fire scenes in Jarhead is possibly the best I’ve seen from tis guy, truly stunning.
Filming on the follow-up to the iconic Ridley Scott classic is slated to begin next Summer with Harrison Ford reprising his role of Rick Deckard, while Ryan Gosling has also been linked to the project.
