UPDATED: Here is an update on this story. In an interview with Joblo, Seagal is asked how action has changed since the old days in movies. The Sensei goes off on a bit of a rant, referring to Neeson, or more accurately British press.
This week, Sensei Seagal took some time out to shit on Liam Neeson. Seagal does not approve of what he interprets to be fake action stars getting all action-y on screen. “He can’t fight. He’s not an action movie guy at all and he’s getting action movies so that should tell you a lot”.
Seagal also mused on Neeson’s ‘warrior’ credentials: “He’s a great dramatic actor. Is he an action guy? No. Is he a great warrior, a great fighter? No. Let’s be honest”.
You know what’s funny here? Liam Neeson is a former boxing champion. The former Ulster Senior Amateur Champion, to be exact. If you watch both movies and boxing, you can pretty much pick this up in Liam’s mannerisms and movements from time to time. Seagal, on the other hand, is an alleged master of a fighting style that is only arguably 100% effective, with no record at all to speak of or show.
Both guys are around the same height. Same age. Put both in the same room? I think the difference between reality and theatrics would come crashing down for a certain person.
