The Rock Confirms “Furious 8” Return

One of the biggest names to appear in the Fast & Furious action ensemble series is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.  Of course there’s likely to be another movie, at least one more even.  Asked directly if Hobbs will appear in “Furious 8,” Johnson responded to Collider: “Of course. It can’t go on without Hobbs.” Johnson was also asked about the possibility of a spin-off film that would focus on his character. He confirms there’s definite interest in the idea:

“We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we’ll see. I still think for me personally we’ve created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That’s my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input.”

I recall reading somewhere that Universal is seeking to branch this franchise out in the style of Marvel movies, or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so to me a spin off movie is just as likely, or even an appearance in both movies.  There is big money to be made with that.
