Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is readying up for “Rampage”. Not the Uwe Boll series unfortunately, but an adaptation of a 1980s video game series. Oh, Mr. Rock, you seem to be listening into wants list…
According to Deadline, plot details are still being kept under wraps, but the Rampage game involves three giant monsters (a gorilla, a lizard, and a wolf), that terrorize major cities all over North America. Presumably, Johnson will put a stop to all of that.
Ryan Engle (Non-Stop) will pen the script, although a director has yet to be attached. Johnson is currently starring in the frothy and fun HBO series Ballers, and the production of this new film will have to come after he wraps on Fast & Furious 8, as well as Central Intelligence (also for New Line). The Johnson / Flynn partnership has been a profitable one for New Line so far, and unlike the world Johnson tries to save in their movies, that aspect doesn’t seem to be in any danger.
The Rock has already made a badass video game, “Doom” is about ten years old now, anyone remember that?
