Heroic Hollywood and io9 report that Seth Gordon, the latest filmmaker who has been attached to the Sony Pictures’ Uncharted adaptation, is no longer onboard the movie.
Initial reports suggest he left over budget cuts, however follow-up repots now indicate the budget is remaining the same and the film is simply going in a new direction. What that means is unclear.
We reported a week or two ago that Sony’s Official Playstation Magazine in the United Kingdom (June issue) has confirmed that the company is still moving forward with an Uncharted movie adaptation, despite some negative rumblings in the past few months about it being stuck in limbo. The magazine says Sony is now convinced that the best way to go for the movie is to follow the vibe of the National Treasure series.
Obviously that was a very light hearted trekking series. Which figures, because so is Uncharted. But I was hoping they would have said Indiana Jones instead, which is basically what Uncharted is.
Uncharted has a high definition remaster of the original trilogy releasing on PS4 this September, with the fourth official game following in Spring of 2014.
