After appearing in Furious 7, in a sense, Cody Walker will follow that movie up by appearing in Hannibal Classics’ USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, alongside Nicolas Cage. It appears to be Walker’s first real solo gig.
Mario Van Peebles is directing the film about Captain Charles McVay (Cage), the commander whose ship was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July 1945, after delivering parts for the first atomic bombs. The crewmen who didn’t die in the initial blast were forced to wait four days for rescue, most dying of dehydration, saltwater poisoning and shark attacks. Only 317 men of the 1196 on board survived the attack.
Walker plays one of the Navvy soldiers. Tom Sizemore, Thomas Jane, Matt Lanter and Brian Presley co-star. Filming on the movie was temporarily shut down recently due to a severe technical hitch, but things are back under way.
The screenplay was written by Cam Cannon and Rionda Del Castro.
