Frank Grillo is apparently in talks to join the third film in “The Purge” franchise at Universal, Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes.
The story takes place in a world where one day each year all crime is legalized for a twelve-hour period. Grillo would reprise the role of Sergeant, a man who seeks revenge on the night of the Purge only to get pulled into protecting a group of people left without shelter.
James DeMonaco is penning and directing the new entry which Jason Blum, Sebastien Lemercier, Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are producing. The project begins shooting in September ahead of a July 2016 release.
Grillo’s commitments to DirecTV’s “Kingdom” reportedly threatened his ability to reprise his role, but those issues have been worked out.
