This week’s “True Detective” second season finale is set to be extended somewhat.
HBO’s subscription channel’s schedule reportedly indicates that the final entry, titled “Omega Station” will run at 87 minutes long. That’s up from the 55-65 minute length of the rest of the season’s episodes. HBO president Michael Lombardo called the finale “enormously satisfying” last week.
Lombardo is probably satisfied with the series overall too — the ratings are actually up over the first season. But that isn’t entirely reflective of the season itself, which is definitely a step down from the first series. The main complaint is often the muddy nature of the story.
I may pen an outline on the plot of season two soon.
