Like him or dislike him it seems that Tom Hardy is the new Mad Max and is here to stay in the role, assuming Charlize Theron doesn’t get a stronger nod for Furiosa. Mel Gibson decided to part ways with production and that is well known, although it happened before the ‘hate Mel’ phase started with The Passion of the Christ. Mel said ‘I’m out’ when production stalled on Fury Road way back in 2003.
Anyway, both George Miller and Tom Hardy have spoken to the Wall St. Journal with regards to this casting transition, to promote Fury Road’s release on Blu-Ray today in North America. Good to see it was a harmonious thing for all involved, including the relationship between Gibson and these two.
