Fury and Sabotage director David Ayer has described his Suicide Squad movie as ‘The Dirty Dozen with supervillains,’ so it doesn’t surprise us to see that New York Magazine would edit footage from his upcoming film with the voice over from the original trailer of Robert Aldrich’s 1967 classic war film.
In The Dirty Dozen, Major John Reisman (Lee Marvin) is ordered to put together a team of ex-soldiers that have committed crimes, some so heinous that they are awaiting execution. They are the original Expendables, which means they are perfect for a suicide mission behind enemy lines. If the felons succeed in their dangerous mission and survive they will have their sentences commuted.
Yeah, comic book movies aren’t much our thing, but this is David Ayer, R, and has a ‘Burton’ vibe going on.
