Forbes.com Wants McTiernan For Furious 8

JOHNMCTIERNANApparently the hiring of a director for Furious 8 is still up in the air, although the movie itself is going to be fine I’m sure.  There has been talk, or more accurately speculation, that original director Rob Cohen may return to the director’s chair.  That’s not idea, because the series has stagnated, quality-wise, and his movie was the best.

I like this one better though.

Forbes.com is now pulling for John McTiernan to sit in the director’s chair for Furious 8.  They even make a good case for it.

‘How much time did Victor Salva spend in prison for raping a child on the set of his movie? Fifteen months. Just about three months longer than John McTiernan served for paying a private investigator to listen to phone calls in a movie production dispute. I don’t mean to overall make light of whatever wiretapping crime might have taken place, I merely mean to make light of it in comparison to actually raping a kid on a movie set and filming it. Remember, one of these guys has trouble getting work in Hollywood, and it’s not the rapist — it’s the guy who made Die Hard. Which is as insane as it is morally repulsive.’

This is easily something to get behind.  Now I guess it’s probably in the hands of Vin Diesel, who appears to be the one who makes such decisions.
