If you are a war junkie then you might be pleased to find that Stalingrad, the in-depth 2003 documentary series, is on its way to Blu-Ray, uncut. The series shows the battle for the city from both the German and Russian perspectives. On German television, it was shown both as a 3-part and a 2-part airing by co-producing TV channel ZDF.
When this aired on German TV, they each had a runtime of 45 minutes and ended up on DVD that same way. Judging from the US Blu-ray by Synapse Films, the episodes will be considerably longer (between 54 – 56 minutes each). They are explicitly described as “uncut” and as being longer than when aired on TV (probably meaning US TV). So, taking PAL speedup into account, we’re most likely looking at an additional runtime of approx. 20 minutes of new material that is – at least – missing in the German versions.
Special Features:
The Blu-ray hits the US on December 8th, 2015.
