Truth be told we have not seen much of Wesley Snipes post-Expendables 3. But his new TV show The Player is one thing that’s on the horizon. And now we get to see him in a new fight scene.
The Player, a Las Vegas-set action thriller, starring Snipes, hails from the team behind NBC hit The Blacklist. The series follows a former military operative-turned-security expert (Philip Winchester) who is drawn into a high-stakes game where an organization of wealthy individuals gamble on his ability to stop some of the biggest crimes imaginable from playing out.
Apparently the series will have a revenge slant going on, with Snipes motivated by the death of his wife. Writer John Rogers, John Davis, John Fox and director Bharat Nalluri are all executive producers. I know one thing, the pilot is titled ‘Endgame’ but I’m not sure on when it will debut.
Snipes was originally supposed to have much more fight scenes in The Expendables 3, where he annihilated a full troop of special forces in one room, as we exclusively reported at one stage. This was removed from the final movie (as in not even filmed), we were told by the studio to remove our mention of it, but the movie has come and gone now but there you go, a reminder on that. I don’t know why that happened, but I was pretty pissed that it was axed. I get the feeling Jason Statham might have been the cause.
If you look at the final movie, he has a scene similar to that.
