It looks like Harrison Ford is going through kind of an ‘Autumn Years’ career revival using the movies that brought him to the dance in the first place. Star Wars, Blade Runner (the most interesting of these, no?) and still, according to Steven Spielberg, Indiana Jones.
Speaking to Screen Daily, the director of ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ and it’s three sequels said :
‘I don’t think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy. I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. It’s certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman. There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones, and that’s Harrison Ford.’
I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark again at the weekend and had forgotten how good it is, I’m now starting to think it’s the best one ahead of ‘Last Crusade’ which used to look like the strongest to me. I suppose quite a few people would like something to take the bad taste out of their mouths left by the ‘Crystal Skull’.
