Big ‘Fast 8’ Things For Iceland

Most of ‘Furious 8’ will be filmed in the USA, but it was also previously reported that Universal Pictures was looking at Cuba, Russia and Iceland to potentially serve as locations for the new film.

Now, Visir (via Iceland Review) reports that the Iceland scene is definitely happening, with filming to take place in April around the West Iceland harbor town of Akranes – around 28 miles north of Reykjavík. The scale of the filming should be impressive too as it’s said to involve the ‘largest explosion ever in Iceland’.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Dominic Toretto somehow detonates a volcano with his automobile, before making good with his narrow escape.  No, really.

F. Gary Gray directs ‘Fast 8’ and it will follow the $1.5 billion earned by ‘Furious 7’ at the worldwide box office. Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Russell, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black will reprise their roles in the new film which opens April 14th 2017.
