It looks like Cannon is back from the dead. A little boost of nostalgia that reminds us on the recent reappearance of the old ‘Orion’ logo on certain new movies.
The new owner is Richard Albiston, a 26 year old budding film producer from the United Kingdom. If you’re wonder how he acquired the property, he has told The Lancashire Guardian;
“I found out in late 2010 that Menahem was still alive and living in Israel, so I called his TV film company up, and arranged to go and see him at the Belgrade International Film Festival in 2011. We talked about making King Solomon’s Mines 3 and I said we should try to get Cannon Films back making films.”
He met with the late Menahem, who apparently took a liking to him. When Cannon Dissolved, Albiston pursued ownership and acquired the rights. “I have set up Cannon Films Ltd and at the moment I just have the name, and Menahem’s fanbase, but there’s plenty of ideas in the pipeline.”
Among those movies planned are a new Delta Force movie and Over The Top 2.
