It looks like Harrison Ford is going through kind of an ‘Autumn Years’ career revival using the movies that brought him to the dance in the first place. Star Wars, Blade Runner (the most interesting of these, no?) and still, Indiana Jones.
According to the BBC Ford will return for a fifth movie with a July 2019 release date set. Steven Spielberg is set to return as director. By that time, Ford will be 77.
Speaking to Screen Daily, the director of ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ and it’s three sequels said :
‘I don’t think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy. I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. It’s certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman. There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones, and that’s Harrison Ford.’
I just wish they’d ignore that horrible fourth movie. Well, it’s not ‘horrible’ but damn sure unbecoming of an Indiana Jones movie.
