It was revealed this week that Michael Mann is planning a series of books, one of them a Heat prequel, which he plans to turn into movies. The Heat prequel may be optimistic, but there’s another movie in the lineup which is going to have a better chance.
The book/film will follow Chicago crime boss Tony Accardo and his successor Sam Giancana, real life figures from the roaring ’20s. According to Deadline, Don Winslow will write the book.
If this doesn’t ring a bell, then remember that Accardo was part of the notorious St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. Sounds like it could work out, it’s Michael Mann for Christ’s sake, although Public Enemies was kind of underwhelming to me… for a Michael Mann movie.
