The man who supposedly originally inspired the movie ‘Bloodsport’, Frank Dux, has been speaking again recently about that movie. And he has some less than positive words about the screenwriter of that movie, Sheldon Lettich. In his interview with SlashFilm, Dux says that Lettich screwed him and stole his work.
You know, it’s part of life. You know what I mean? I saw Sheldon as my friend, and I was trying to help him. And I said, “Okay, Sheldon, you get the credits, and then when you get up to the next level, you just bring me up.” And he agreed to that. But instead, he went back on his word and he did everything in his power to hold me down. And that’s what I found out later in life. He did everything to basically poison the well with Jean-Claude and everybody I worked with. That was the real Sheldon Lettich. To my face he’s pretending to be my best buddy, but behind my back he’s doing everything in his power to undermine me in my career and take credit for my work.
Dux then also adds some less than stellar words about Jean Claude Van Damme. Jean-Claude uses people and chews them up as quick as he can. If he doesn’t have any use for people, he throws them to the side. It’s worth pointing out that they also got Lettich’s side of the story, who said that he simply did not want to talk about Dux, since Dux simply had ‘psychological issues’.
I wonder, did Dux ever sue Lettich for plagiarism, or did Lettich ever sue Dux for slander? Perhaps the real story here is somewhere down the middle if not. That said, I’ve read more than once over the years that Dux is fond of some letting his fantasies get the better of him.
