I’ve been thinking about these two movies again recently. Especially Bullet to the Head (originally titled ‘Headshot’). And I wonder which out of the two people prefer, Bullet to the Head or The Last Stand. Why have these two face off? They kind of came mostly around the same time.
And once again it was Arnold Schwarzenegger vs. Sylvester Stallone.
Even though these two (but more Stallone) appeared together in The Expendables series, both of these movies had both actors standing on their own two feet once again. Let’s take a look at their performances.
BULLET TO THE HEAD
Budget: 55 million
Box Office: 22 million
THE LAST STAND
Budget: 45 million
Box Office: 48 million
While both were box office bombs and kind of gave us all a sober reminder that our heroes were no longer as relevant as they used to be, The Last Stand both performed better financially and critically. However for my vote, I’m going Bullet to the Head.
I just feel that the movie is darker, edgier and more like a movie from 1990. Not only does it give no fucks about contemporary movie trends, apparently it isn’t even aware of their existence. I would’ve preferred that Thomas Jane stayed in the movie as was originally intended. Sung Kang is no better than Johnny Knoxville, in my opinion.
