UPDATED 2X: Here’s word via BudoMate.com on Twitter, this movie appears to have hit the skids. Isn’t that a good thing? A while back, hard man Terry Funk (who appeared in the original) denounced the remake, with Rousey, as bullshit.

UPDATED: Well, it looks like this thing is definitely going ahead, because now they’ve added a director. Nick Cassavetes, the director of the romantic drama The Notebook. So says Variety. The above picture is from Cassavetes’ The Notebook.
PREVIOUSLY: Oh God, here is another story that is sure to fire up some anger. A manly movie favourite is set to get the re-jig, the remake of Road House is moving forward and Ronda Rousey is being spoken of as the lead for the new project.
What role will she take, you ask? None other than the role owned by the saint, legend and esteemed, who gave cancer the big fuck you and went down like a man, Patrick Swayze.
Collider reports on this story and even mention that they expect a ‘steep drop in the amount of masculine grab-assing that goes on in the original.’ I don’t know, but Ronda Rousey garnered severe heat from fans of this type of movie for her interloping on screen time in a movie that featured the return of Wesley Snipes and Mel Gibson, so I do not think this is going to do her any favours.
You know, for real manly men, pain don’t hurt. But if this comes to pass, pain is going to hurt in a major way.
