UPDATED: After years and years in development hell with the troubled Relativity, TheWrap is reporting that Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow have acquired the rights to finance, produce and distribute The Crow Reborn, a reboot of the cult classic franchise.
Earlier this year, Jason Momoa was rumoured to be the title star.
PREVIOUSLY: A new adaptation of the James O’Barr’s The Crow, which was previously turned into a film in 1994 starring Brandon Lee – has been in the works at Relativity for a very long time now. But it seems that development hell isn’t going to ease up the for the new movie.
After Relativity Media filed for bankruptcy earlier last week, they left much of their slate in a state of limbo—including The Crow. While the studio’s official line is that it still plans on making the film and starting production this fall, THR reports that pre-production on The Crow has stalled in the U.K., with several department heads and other members of the production team having left the project last week.
I have a feeling it will get picked up however. It is a good property and greed alone, at some point of the food chain should see it through.
