Sequel News: Blade Runner, Bourne, Indiana Jones

There are a bunch of sequels headed our way and a ton of news emerges today surrounding some of them.  Here is the news on upcoming movies that might be of interest to us.

Blade Runner 2049

In the original Blade Runner, there was a theory that Deckard himself (Harrison Ford) was a Replicant. Fueling this was Ridley Scott, who insisted that this was the case.  Denying it was Harrison Ford, who said that his character was a human.

Since the robots have a four year life span and Deckard returns in the new movie, this would rule out the ‘Replicant’ theory, since Ford has clearly aged more than four years.  Or would it?  ‘Not necessarily’ says new director Denis Villeneuve.

So he’s deliberately keeping that open, which I’m personally not a fan of.  I’m with Ford, Deckard is a human.

Bourne 6

Producer Frank Marshall has been talking a potential new movie in the Bourne series (and if there isn’t that, The Rock is set to film his own Ludlum adaptation).  Here is what he said;

“I’d say the Bourne franchise is alive and well. And we’re certainly moving forward to continue making Bourne movies.. These movies are one of a kind now because there are no more books to reference. One of the things we have done is we’ve opened it up. We have several new, fresh characters, and who knows where the next one is going to take us.”

Indiana Jones 5

I hate to include the number ‘5’ in here, because it reminds us of that awful fucking movie, the fourth one.  Is a fifth going ahead?  Maybe, Marshall says;

“I really haven’t had any discussions yet about Indiana Jones. That’s now over at Disney and part of Lucasfilm, so we really haven’t any meetings on it. I really don’t know yet. I think there’s a release date of 2019, so that’s a year away.”
