A new political thriller titled Smolensk appears to have garnered the worst rating ever on the IMDb, or at least among the very worst. The movie has broken the shameful sub-2.0 barrier and actually sank to a 1.1 rating.
Synopsis: Inspired by true events of 2010 Polish Air Force Tu-154 crash in Smolensk, the film tells the fictional story of crash and various people affected by the tragedy. The protagonist is a journalist Nina, who refuses to accept the official version of the story and despite the facts pursues her own independent investigation.
Now the movie has not entered the bottom 100 yet, even though IMDb lists their worst movie ever as Code Name: K.O.Z. with a 1.5 rating. You might think that Smolensk simply doesn’t have enough votes, however it has over 5,000.
Since this is obviously a touchy movie, it could also be that the movie has been rigged. Possibly, Vinnie Jones movies are not the only ones with suspect votes on the IMDb. 91% decided to give this movie an average of 1-2. So either this is proof that this is the worst movie of all time or it is proof that IMDb leaves their voting system open for manipulation. I wonder how many ‘popular’ movies at the other end of the spectrum are allowed to slip into the top 250, with suspect votes?
So, it may be the worst movie ever, but it could also be rigged. Mind you, looking at the ‘effects’ in the movie (which I have not seen), maybe it really is that bad. Maybe we should double check the cast and see if Bruce Willis is in this movie!
