Netflix Pushing For Hogan Vs. Gawker Doc

I don’t know about you but I found the whole Hogan Vs. Gawker thing kind of humorous.  Particularly because they kind of owned Jezebel (the antithesis of ManlyMovie),  and as ‘The Ultimate Object of Desire’ (and ‘Mountain of Molten Lust’, seemingly to Heather Clem) gave them the big boot, Jezebel was sweating for a while at least.

What happened was Hulk Hogan was invited by a friend of his (‘Bubba the Love Sponge’) to sleep with his wife. Hogan refused, repeatedly, but one day while stopping by their house to ‘say hello’ (yeah right, brother), Hogan wound up having sex with Heather ‘Sponge’. If that was not bizarre enough,  ‘The Love Sponge’ then set up a camera in the closet to record Hogan doing the deed and running wild on his wife.  He burned it to a DVD with ‘HOGAN’ written on it and placed it in a drawer.  Y’know, for safe keeping and organisation – one can only deduce that it was titled to sort it from other DVDs…

Later, Gawker.com acquired the footage and published it.  Hogan told them to remove it, they said no.  Hogan sued them for $115 million. Their site was shut down and finished.

Fucking hilarious.

Now, Netflix is near a world rights deal for Nobody Speak: Hulk Hogan, Gawker and Trials of a Free Press, a documentary on this scandal. Five outlets bid, but it looks like Netflix is closing for around $2 million.
