A while back The Rock denounced Vin Diesel for his behaviour on the set of the new Fast & Furious movie (Fate of the Furious). Supposedly, Diesel was being a bit of an egomaniac, with The Rock also denouncing others for not standing up to him.
But Diesel insists all is cool with the two stars during an interview with USA TODAY, saying Johnson, 44, is part of his family.
“I don’t think the world really realizes how close we are, in a weird way,” says Diesel, who steered clear of the specifics of their disagreement. “I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don’t think that was his intention. I know he appreciates how much I work this franchise. In my house, he’s Uncle Dwayne.”
Funny words there, such as ‘my house’. But it gets better.
“I protect the franchise. I protect everybody including Dwayne. I protected Dwayne more than he’ll ever know. And it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t have to know. But he appreciates it. He knows it,” says Diesel. “Dwayne has only got one Vin in his life. Dwayne Johnson only has one big brother in this film world and that’s me.”
But Diesel then goes on to insist things are good between the two, but not without boasting and reminding people that he was something The Rock is, before The Rock was.
“I’m always rooting for Dwayne. I’m the first multicultural megastar in Hollywood. They didn’t exist,” says Diesel. “To see another multicultural star come up is something I am very proud of. I’m always rooting Dwayne on.”
What an egomaniac! And how obvious is his little man syndrome? Also, can we talk about Vin Diesel’s height? Something ain’t right here.
The Rock is 6’2, probably 6’3. Where does Diesel get those 4 inches out of every now and again, when cameras are close to him and The Rock? Maybe George Clooney has some answers…
George?
