SEAL TEAM

(Military Thriller, Wednesdays 9pm)
David Boreanaz leads this military drama that follows the professional and personal lives of the most elite unit of Navy SEALs as they train, plan and execute the most dangerous, high stakes missions our country can ask of them.

Deployed on clandestine missions worldwide at a moment’s notice, and knowing the toll it takes on them and their families, this tight-knit SEAL team displays unwavering patriotism and fearless dedication, even in the face of overwhelming odds.

Max Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., A.J. Buckley, Toni Trucks and Jessica Pare also star. Ben Cavell, Ed Redlich, Chris Chulack, Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly are executive producers while Chulack directed the pilot.

S.W.A.T.

(Action Thriller, 10pm Thursdays)
Inspired by the television series and feature film, S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore as a locally born S.W.A.T. sergeant newly tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles.

Torn between loyalty to the streets where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, former Marine Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (Moore) has everything it takes to successfully bridge the divide between his two worlds and excel at leading his dedicated team of brave men and women as they risk their lives to protect the community.

Aaron Thomas, Shawn Ryan, Justin Lin, Neal Moritz, Marney Hochman, Danielle Woodrow and Pavun Shetty are executive producers, Lin directed the pilot. Stephanie Sigman, Alex Russell, Jay Harrington, Lina Esco, Kenny Johnson and Peter Onorati also star.

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY

Star Trek returns to television this fall, a new trailer for ‘Discovery’ can be watched above.

The Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays first officer Lt. Commander Michael Burnham, has offered some details on where this series is headed.   The actress tells TV Line that the show aims to offer a grittier take on the Trek world.

“This iteration of Star Trek is going to have a different take than the others in the Star Trek canon. It’s going to be bigger, rawer and grittier… and the story’s going to build on itself. It’s going to be a tremendous journey. Since Star Trek has always been through the eyes of the captain, to be coming from [his second-in-command’s] mindset is going to be refreshing and challenging in ways that are very thrilling.”

I don’t think I’ve watched a ‘Star Trek’ TV series regularly since the 1990’s, but based on this trailer I don’t know if that’s going to change.
