A while back the Uncharted movie was touted as being R-rated and described as ‘grittier’ than Indiana Jones with, quote, fucking crazy action sequences. Then came news that Tom Holland would be cast in the lead role.
At the time I thought that it might be a flashback type deal to a younger Drake we see in the games. But now it looks like Holland is Nathan Drake and that it’s probably going to be a type of origins movie. Holland also spoke about who he’d like to see play Sully;
“I think Jake Gyllenhaal could be really cool. But I actually went to the Jurassic World 2 film set the other day to visit my friend who’s directing it and Chris Pratt is on that film, who I’ve become very good friends with over the last few months. I think he would be a great Sully, I think it could be cool.
Because if it was an older movie, I would say that Chris should play Nathan, but I think he would be a cool Sully, and I love working with Chris, so if I could work with Chris some more that would be great.”
Holland seems young as fuck to play Drake, who is more or less twice his age. We also wonder if this is indicative of another change in tone? Is it still R?
