UPDATED 2X: It looks like this one is drawing nearer. It’s going to be at the Venice Film Festival according to Deadline. “Venice Film Festival chief Alberto Barbera has added a trio of titles to the program for the 74th edition which begins later this month. World premiering out of competition is John Woo’s Manhunt,”
Definitely one to keep an eye on.
UPDATED: Here is a trailer for this movie. I know, it’s ‘off camera’, but an off camera trailer for a new John Woo movie is better than kitsch crap from Hollywood, right?
PREVIOUSLY: Manly man John Woo is set to direct the upcoming action thriller “Manhunt” at Media Asia Films. Actually it’s set to be a remake, but who cares, it’s John Woo, who we like to call the action surgeon. Check out the first poster below.
Based on a novel by Japanese writer Juko Nishimura, the story follows a prosecutor framed for robbery and rape who sets out on a one-man mission to clear his name. Today, Mr. Woo has spoken of his project.
Now, Chinese star Zhang Hanyu and Japan’s Masaharu Fukuyama have been confirmed as the first leading cast for the movie. Woo is also apparently happy with the freedom he’s been given for the movie. So it could out to be something special.
Welcome back, Action Surgeon!
