Matt Damon has committed the crime of wrong think.
In an interview with Peter Travers, Damon says that a rapist should not be compared with an asshole who slaps a woman on the ass. He says the consequences for such behavior should fit the crime. And, to his mind, not all such crimes are equal. “I do believe that there’s a spectrum of behavior,” he begins. “And we’re going to have to figure — you know, there’s a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right? Both of those behaviors need to be confronted and eradicated without question, but they shouldn’t be conflated, right?”
Wrong!
God God, SERIOUSLY? https://t.co/NDZFrLDXil

Former co-star Minnie Driver was among the first to admonish Damon. Followed by plenty more.
Matt Damon thinks we need to “correct” the “culture of outrage” over sexual harassment https://t.co/E3HTbswUwa pic.twitter.com/AQlLcDJIqZ

I seriously thought that article was some sort of parody when I read it. Like…he couldn’t possibly….say all that.

There are so many men I love who do NOT frame the differentiation between sexual misconduct assault and rape as an excuse or worse- our problem. Such bollocks..

Yes, there is. Each violation fuels rape culture and sends the message that a woman’s body is not hers alone. https://t.co/EUVowBK3jM

"If it’s a friend of mine, I’m always talking to them. I know the real story if it’s my friend." Men who believe this are deluded fools. Abusers lie. They lie to their friends, too. The person who knows "the real story" is the victim. Listen to them. https://t.co/uJ2Qt2Sy2q

The deluded fool, Damon, continued: “All of that behavior needs to be confronted, but there is a continuum. And on this end of the continuum where you have rape and child molestation or whatever”. So did the uproar:
I start to think maybe most men are learning about sexual harassment & assault? Then I read an interview with Matt Damon and realize oh, how terribly naive. Of course not https://t.co/9pgQmmjT9O

Men who splits hairs on the issue of sexual violence are waving a flag so red, it'll burn your eyes. https://t.co/m5Tdo3IXfh
