They’re remaking 48 Hrs.

To use a quote from a Clint Eastwood movie, this news will probably be as popular as a turd in a swimming pool.  No more Eddie Murphy, no more Nick Nolte, no more Walter Hill and no more de Souza.  The 0.5% chance of a threequel is officially 0.0%.

Brother filmmaking duo Benny and Josh Safdie (who directed Good Time) have been set to direct the remake of the 1980s buddy cop action classic at Paramount Players and Chernin Entertainment.

Josh Safdie will co-write the script with Ronald Bronstein and Jerrod Carmichael. Oscar Boyson and Sebastian Bear-McClard will produce.

Nick Nolte’s idea for a third movie had his character, Cates framed and jailed, with Hammond on the outside working against the clock to get him out.  Obviously, that’s not going to happen, nor are we likely to see the original, 145 minute version of the sequel.
