UPDATED: Justin Lin To Tackle Magnum P.I. Reboot

UPDATED: This series is still going ahead and now the show has a director, for its pilot at least.  Justin Lin will come on to direct the reboot from CBS TV Studios and Universal TV Studios.

So, the question is, who will play former Navy SEAL, Thomas Magnum?  Maybe an unknown is best.

PREVIOUSLY: Last year we reported that Magnum P.I. was getting a female reboot. It was said that:

The project, from Leverage creator John Rogers and Eva Longoria’s UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, will keep the fun, action-packed style of the original as it follows Magnum’s daughter, Lily “Tommy” Magnum, who returns to Hawaii to take up the mantle of her father’s PI firm.

Well not so fast.  Longoria will not be ‘returning’ after all, because the female reboot has been torpedoed.  And now, instead, riter/producer Peter Lenkov is now creating a different reboot CBS Television Studios and Universal Television.

It’ll follow Navy SEAL Thomas Magnum on his investigations on Hawaii.  Which of course, sounds just like it should sound.
