Jay Leno Finds Original Bullitt Mustang, And New One

The Mustang from the movie Bullitt was thought disappeared for 40 years.  Many feared the car got scrapped under the radar possibly by someone who did not know its heritage somewhere along the way.

But now Jay Leno is celebrating the remake (of the car) by Ford, by driving the new Bullitt Mustang around the track… and also the original.

Leno talks to the owner of the old car in the video above.  The owner’s father bought the car for $6,000 in 1974.  Later, Steve McQueen himself sent polite letters to the owner asking if he’d sell the car to him.  McQueen offered to replace the car, but the owner refused.

I’m not really sure about the new Mustang.  It lacks character or something.
