Court Battle Derails Mad Max Sequels

It looks like Mad Max: Fury Road may have been somewhat of a one-off.  Two planned sequels have been removed from the table as George Miller enters a bitter court battle with the studio over the first movie.

According to SMH, the dispute is over unpaid money.

And by “destroying” the relationship of trust by allegedly refusing to pay a bonus for delivering the movie under budget and breaching a co-financing agreement, they were unable to work together to make any further instalments.

Who knows what will happen, but it is known that Miller has completed scripts for two films.  However, Miller is hardly a spring chicken and this could be a protracted affair.  It’s also known that Tom Hardy, who had the blessing of Mel Gibson to assume the role, did not get on with co-star Charlize Theron.

Either way, there will be another Mad Max film, the studio owns it, the only question is who will direct it?
