Clint Eastwood is returning to acting, his first role since 2012’s Trouble with the Curve, with the drug running thriller The Mule for Warner Brothers.
The 87 year-old filmmaker is starring in, producing and directing the project based on a New York Times Magazine story about an award-winning horticulturist and decorated WWII veteran who became a drug courier for Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel.
The man was arrested in Michigan by the DEA carrying $3 million worth of cocaine in his truck, and was sentenced to just three years in prison after his defence lawyer claimed Sharp suffered from dementia which sent him down the wrong path.
Nick Schenk, writer of Gran Torino, has written the script, which Dave Holstein has re-written.
Below is a new poster for the movie.
