James Wan Calls Off Superhero Neckbeards

I haven’t even been keeping up with manly movies themselves too much this Christmas, much less dull-witted CGI prolefeed (comic movies).  Another one came out, Aquaman.  And critics who have disliked the movie have supposedly become the target of neckbeards in uproar.

Director James Wan has had to come out and call them off, saying on Twitter:

“It has come to my attention that some folks are getting harassed by some fans for not liking [‘Aquaman’]. Please don’t do that. Not the kind of support I want. Be respectful. Vice versa, it’s ok to not like my film, but there’s no need to attack me personally, or tag me on hates. Peace.”

This is apparently a neckbeard civil war, between fans of Marvel prolefeed and fans of DC prolefeed.  Earlier in the year, those few who and the intelligence/conviction to criticize Marvel’s tripe were subjected to abuse.  Now it’s the turn of critics of DC’s tripe.

Earlier in the year, I took some ‘fan mail’ myself when I motioned that The Avengers films were no better than rotten Russian superhero movies.  Silly but playful characters, abuse of CGI, no plot, bloated tedium… I had committed a doubly heinous act of slandering two instructions from the TeeVee – to trash comic book movies and worse, elevate the Russians! For the reaction I got I might as well have flown to Riyadh and called Allah a wanker at the top of my lungs.

Either way, I think Marvel fans are marginally worse.  They shit all over poor DC movies, while the stuff they obsess over is, if anything, even worse.  The whole Avengers craze to me is baffling, it’s almost cult-like by now.  Look at this clip below, it’s just an awful mess… but look at the cultish comments, and the baffling like/dislike ratio.  Are people getting more stupid?
