You’ll probably remember Kevin Sorbo from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys back in the day on television. You might even remember some of his television movies. But no more beyond that. Apparently, there is a reason for that and Kevin Sorbo speaks of it in a new video that can be watched here.
Sorbo says that after opining on various things, the hammer soon came down:
My agent, who was a big time agent, with him many years, and my manager, said… we can’t represent you anymore. I said, why? They said, well, because you’re a conservative. And you’re a Christian. And I was like… what?!
To be blacklisted for having the wrong views is one thing, but to be blacklisted for being a Christian is even more disturbing. So, sometimes it’s not a case of actors disappearing for lack of talent, but discrimination?
Who remembers Dirk Benedict, who played The Faceman in The A-Team? What else do you remember him from beyond that? Nothing? Benedict says in the new Blu-Ray commentary for The A-Team (reviewed here) that because of his support for Ronald Reagan and being a conservative, his name was placed on an actual ‘black list’ and torpedoed.
A guy like Benedict, with movie star looks and clearly a naturally talented, hilarious actor, never been seen or heard from again, also seems a bit odd.
