STALLONE TOPS BOX OFFICE FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT DECADE

I do not care for most superhero movies.  Especially when they’re directed by men who post repulsive pedophile commentary on social media.  However, something is noteworthy about the release of The Suicide Squad.

It stars Sylvester Stallone, and it has opened at number one.  This means that it’s the sixth straight decade Sylvester Stallone has starred in a number one opening box office movie.

• 1970s: Rocky

• 1980s: Rocky/Rambo

• 1990s: Cliffhanger

• 2000s: Driven

• 2010s: The Expendables

• 2020s: The Suicide Squad

This is an impressive career feature, something that has only been rivaled by Dustin Hoffman doing the same.  It shows that Stallone has a good read on the industry he works in.  Moreover, from the 46 movies released during this time, 20 of them have been box office number ones.

Up next, Stallone has another superhero movie coming titled Samaritan, but this should be offset (assuming that movie is actually bad, it might not be) by Little America.  The latter could be politically incorrect as it is set in an America that has been taken over by China, with Stallone playing an ex-cop.

And of course, The Expendables 4.  Potentially… an box office opening winner in itself…
