JOHN WOO

John Woo is returning to direct an action movie in Hollywood, according to MovieWeb.  The film will be called Silent Night and star Joel Kinnaman.  Interestingly, the movie is pegged as a ‘loud action movie’ that is almost entirely free of dialogue.

This will be Woo’s first Hollywood production in 18 years, the last one being Paycheck with Ben Affleck.  As for this new movie, it is said to be ‘basic’ in storytelling nature, with Kinnaman out to avenge the murder of his son.

Some guys, like Woo, appreciate that silly nonsense isn’t always required in a screenplay.

SAS: ROGUE HEROES

Here is the first picture from SAS: Rogue Heroes, an upcoming big budget limited series being produced by the BBC.  Jack O’Connell and Dominic West will star in this six episode show.

It’ll cover the origins of the SAS in the North African Front.

The drama comes from Peaky Blinders creator creator Steven Knight and is based on Ben MacIntyre’s novel.  Here’s hoping it’s a good, big TV show like the Band of Brothers universe.

THE EXPENDABLES 4

Here’s a set video of The Expendables 4.  Not much can be see and it does not look impressive.  However it appears to me that Greece is probably standing in for a middle eastern setting.  Middle Eastern military vehicles are appearing among these containers.

So, perhaps Jason Statham is headed to Syria?  Sylvester Stallone won’t be, as his scenes have been wrapped up.

THE GARDENER

Here is the poster for The Gardener, starring Robert Bronzi.  Also starring martial arts legend Gary Daniels, the movie is released on DVD on December 28th.

In the movie, ‘An immigrant living a quiet life as a gardener at a manor house in England has to rely on old skills to save the family he works for from home invaders.’

It has been directed by Scott Jeffrey.
