The Expendables 4 isn’t out until next year. It has a few problems. First, it has to undo the mess of the third movie, which badly hurt the franchise for a lot of people. Second, it’s not a good sign that Sylvester Stallone is not really in the movie all that much. There are also no real big ‘legacy’ action names this time.
That said, the likes of Iko Uwais and Tony Jaa are in this movie. They may not have been around in the 1990’s but they’re pretty much go-to action men for us these days. Mike Leeder has taken to Twitter to say that the crew/actors involved in this one have put together some good fight scenes:
Did a little bit of stunt casting on this last year, and really think people are gonna like what JC Stuntteamer Alan Ng did with the fights for Iko and Statham, Jaa and Levy Tran etc, got to see some rough cuts and looks good pic.twitter.com/GEwwPibcFM

Elsewhere, speaking with THR, Sylvester Stallone says he heard the movie turned out pretty good:
Q: How’s Expendables 4 looking?
A: I heard it turned out pretty good. Jason Statham is 80 percent of it. He’s happy with it.
On the one hand, he’s probably going to say that anyway. On the other, this guy hasn’t been holding back over the last year or two on anything. Anyway, can they pull something out of the bag and redeem this franchise? If they darken it up, like the first movie, it’s possible it can be the third best in the series. But that shouldn’t be difficult…?
