Somewhere, Dirk Benedict is not a very happy man right now. He commented in the late 2000s that The A-Team was the last truly masculine show, one of the last politically incorrect shows where it was written for guys, by guys. And that now ‘the feminization of TV is complete’.
He’s not going to be happy because they are rebooting The A-Team, for TV this time. And apparently it’s going to be more ‘comtemporary’, with the inclusion of female characters. The news was first reported by Deadline, which reports:
Like the original NBC show, the new A-Team revolves around a diverse team of American Special Forces operatives. Unlike the original all-male squad, the new team will include both male and female members. The group has been framed for a crime they didn’t commit and set out to clear their names by uncovering the black-ops conspiracy that set them up. Along the way, they are driven to help those in need by using their singular military skills, high-tech expertise and often conflicting individual approaches. It’s described as a fun episodic mission-of-the-week show that mixes big action-adventure sequences with compelling characters, inventive cons and lots of humor.
I would have to say that this is literally in one of my top five (or three) television shows ever, so I am legit fucking pissed off. And you gotta wonder, who will the females play? They won’t have a female play Templeton ‘Face’ Peck, because a woman using her face to con criminals would be deemed sexist. That wouldn’t be ‘contemporary’ now would it?
Since there’ll be at least two females, that means at least one has to be either the Colonel or B.A. Oh God, moral has just took a major hit with this shit. How can this new pansy A-Team do shit like this…?
