Damian Lewis has emerged as one of the frontrunners to be the new James Bond once again. An “unoffical nod” – it sounds as shady as a coded message delivered by Q to 007 in the corridors of MI6 according to The Telegraph.
The actor is being heavily tipped to take over from Daniel Craig as the fictional suave spy after punters placed big bets on the Homeland actor taking on the role. Bookmakers have slashed their odds following the gamble, with William Hill offering just 6/4 that Damian will land the coveted role, while Ladbrokes make him their 2/1 favourite.
William Hill saw Damian’s price collapse from 25/1 following a flurry of £200 bets.
Spokesman Rupert Adams said: “This is an unprecedented gamble, as for no apparent reason we have seen bets of up to £200 on Damien Lewis being named as the next Bond. “This could well be significant and might herald the end of Daniel Craig as the world’s most famous spy.
