Here’s the actual video of *that* piece of recent news.
In the video someone in the audience asks Stallone if the movie is going to be PG-13. “Bingo”, says Stallone. When confronted with the question, notice that Stallone makes a point of including Avi Lerner in the response, off to his left – “right, Avi?”, as if to unload and share the blame during the most public of revelations. As if to say, “it was his decisions too…”.
But I also notice Stallone was hesitant to confirm it outright. I’m sure they learned a lesson last time during the massive furore over The Expendables 2 PG-13 fiasco. I’m sure they anticipated possible backlash and kept their options open. But the backlash is smaller this time, or at least not as orchestrated.
The movie has supposedly yet to go before the MPAA. I’m guessing that an “R” rated director’s cut is on the shelf now and that it’ll be trimmed down for theatrical. If there’s still time to influence a change though , the window to do so is fast closing…
