Hacksaw Ridge gets R-Rating

hr2

Here’s a bit of good news following the recent trinket that Arnold Schwarzenegger’s indie drama Aftermath (2017) is getting an R-rating.

The Motion Picture Association of America has also officially bequeathed Mel Gibson’s war epic Hacksaw Ridge a nice, big, juicy R-rating for intense prolonged realistically graphic sequences of war violence including grisly bloody images. That’s word-for-word the same rating as Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan (1998), and we all know how very well violent that film is.

This just adds the cherry on top of getting very well-received in film festivals and serious Oscar consideration for Gibson, who may very well return to the good graces of Hollywood should this film be a rousing success. Personally I think he’s fine where he is, he deserves better than making studio factory output. Blood Father was much better than all three Expendables films combined.

The film details the story of WWII American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield), who served during the Battle of Okinawa while refusing to kill people, becoming the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Teresa Palmer, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey and Vince Vaughn co-star. The film is Gibson’s first directorial effort since Apocalypto (2006).

Here’s that trailer again from Lionsgate Movies:
