Those Fast & Furious movies are not only a bit too silly, but could be construed as something readers of this site aren’t into too much (soft ass shit). There will be a spin off movie though, Hobbs & Shaw, starring Jason Statham and The Rock.
And in a new interview, Chev Chelios says the film will have a different tone from the main series;
I think Dave Leitch’s taste is a little more grounded and a little darker. If you see Atomic Blonde, and it is just superb, his taste is definitely in a world that is sort of how you described it. I think he’s looking to do something that doesn’t look exactly like a Fast movie. Although it’s the Fast characters, he’s trying to do his own thing with it and give it a real sense of credibility. I think Dave is going to get this one gritty, and real, and fucking hardcore.
Mind you, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard this. When James Wan came aboard this franchise, he spoke of how he wanted to steer it in a direction that hearkened back to old 1970’s thrillers, with gritty chase sequences.
Did that happen?
